I took this portrait of my little brother Emmet. He is 9 years old. I care for him a lot and he is very energetic and can always make me smile. I took this portrait in our house, up on our stairs near a window to get the best possible natural lighting. I had him slightly tilt his head, body and had him smile to avoid the portrait looking like a mugshot and adding depth to the image. I also chose this location because of the background, it is just a plain wall with nothing on it to avoid any distraction from the main subject (Emmet). The final step to make this the best portrait possible was to use photoshop skills to make the photo even better. The first thing I did was crop the image so it would only have the viewer focus on the subject. another thing I did was use the dodge tool to brighten my brother's eyes and teeth. and the last thing I did in photoshop was play around with the brightness, curves and exposure to make the lighting much better and add the desired effect on the viewer.
